ANNUAL DINNER DANCE AND FUNDRAISER:

One of the highlights of the Pelham social season is the Pelham Civic Association's annual dinner-dance.

The event serves as a major fund-raiser for the Civics. And along with a gala evening of dining and dancing, it offers an opportunity for the Civics to honor a local individual, a neighbor, who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve the community.

This year's gala, November 7 at the Fountainhead in New Rochelle, will honor Ursla Huff as our "2008 Person of the Year."

Lorri Gorman, former mayor of Pelham Manor, was honored as our "2007 Person of the Year" at the 68th Annual Dinner Dance last year. More than 250 friends and colleagues from throughout the county gathered for a night of dining, dancing and warm tributes to Ms. Gorman, a longtime resident and community leader.

Phil Carfora, dinner-dance chairman, promises another exciting evening at this year's key fund-raiser for the Pelham Civic Association's programs to assist the youth, the needy, the disabled and the elderly in town. Raffle chairman Joe Schirone will add to the festivities by conducting a drawing for a variety of valuable prizes, including a $20,000 savings bond.
