PELHAM SUMMER OLYMPICS:

Every June, we run an outdoor Olympic Sports Day for all the children of Pelham between the ages of 5 and 12 at Glover Field. All participants receive T-shirts, medals, photos, food and refreshments.

The competition has proven over the years to be the town's most popular and well-attended sports event for the younger set. The activities run from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 at the Glover Field track.

In addition to our more traditional running, jumping and throwing events, great new challenges include:

- "The Fast Mean Speed Machine,'' a fast-pitch contest with a real radar gun to measure the velocity of the throws.

- "Beat the Oldie Goalie," taking soccer shots on goals to get them past a veteran soccer player.

This year's Olympics will be held on Saturday, June 7.
